About this project

What this site is

InsulinResistance.org is an independent education project that publishes editorial reviews of the peer-reviewed research literature on metabolic health. We translate published clinical studies, trials, and guidelines into accessible summaries for patients, clinicians, and curious readers, with post-publication context added.

We are not a medical provider, and nothing on this site is medical advice. Talk to a qualified clinician about your own health before making changes to medications, supplements, or your diet.

Who is behind the site

InsulinResistance.org is a project of Pacific Shores Research Group, an independent research and publishing group. Every research page passes seven internal editorial checks (our editorial policy) plus a credentialed medical review (medical review board) before publication.

Our sister project, PolicyLab, publishes clinical trial listings and paid research participation opportunities in metabolic and chronic disease research.

We take no funding from pharmaceutical, device, or supplement manufacturers. We do not run advertising, sponsored content, or affiliate placements.

Our relationship to the Journal of Insulin Resistance

This domain, insulinresistance.org, was previously the home of theJournal of Insulin Resistance (JIR), a peer-reviewed open-access journal. The journal itself is still going. It now publishes as the Journal of Metabolic Healthat journalofmetabolichealth.org. If you are looking for the official journal, its current articles, or its editorial board, that is the site to visit.

We acquired the expired domain and are using it for this separate education project. When we write about articles that were originally published in the journal, we do so as commentary and summary, describing third-party research rather than republishing it. Reviews link back to the original at the publisher's site under its Creative Commons license.

How we cite sources

Every review links to the primary source it discusses, with full citation details, so you can read the original research yourself. If a claim on the site is wrong or a source is misrepresented, please get in touch and we will correct it.
