About this project

What this site is

InsulinResistance.org is an independent education project. We write plain-language explainers about insulin resistance and metabolic health, and we review and summarize the published scientific literature so that non-specialists can understand it. Our goal is to make credible metabolic-health research easier to find and easier to read.

We are not a medical provider, and nothing on this site is medical advice. Always consult a qualified clinician about your own health.

Our relationship to the Journal of Insulin Resistance

This domain, insulinresistance.org, was previously the home of theJournal of Insulin Resistance (JIR), a peer-reviewed open-access journal. We acquired the expired domain and are using it for this independent education project.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a continuation of the Journal of Insulin Resistance or its publisher. When we write about articles that were published in that journal, we do so as commentary and summary — we are describing third-party research, not republishing or claiming it as our own.

The journal itself continues today under a new name, the Journal of Metabolic Health, at journalofmetabolichealth.org. If you are looking for the official journal, its current articles, or its editorial board, please visit that site directly.

How we cite sources

Every explainer links to the primary source it discusses, with full citation details, so you can read the original research yourself. If you believe we have described a source inaccurately, please get in touch and we will correct it.
